So I've learnt to retreat at the first sign of danger, I mean why wait around if it's just to surrender? Ambition I've found can lead only to failure... I am not living for you.
I was born on a cold February morning to Matthew and Nancy Oberst. Today Matthew is manager of Mutual of Omaha and Nancy is the principal of an elementry school back in Omaha. Occasionally when I go home I help her out with filing in the office. I have two elder brothers Justin (now a lawyer) and Matt (a musician - you should check out his band, Sorry About Dresden if you're into that kind of thing) and we all get on pretty well now. I've been playing piano - according to my Mom - since I was two, but didn't pick up a guitar till I was ten but my Mom tells me she used to read Shakespeare to me while I was in the womb and I think that's where my love of words began. I like to believe that the Bard got inside my veins and that it was that which spawned my love of writing and reading which has led me to my career. The 9-5 is as a substitute English teacher while I work on writing the next great American novel and maybe one day getting a book of my poetry published.
